''Artemisia arborescens'' (tree wormwood) is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to the Mediterranean region.〔(Altervista Flora Italiana, Assenzio arbustivo ''Artemisia arborescens'' (Vaill.) L. )〕 It is an erect evergreen perennial, with masses of finely-divided aromatic silvery-white leaves and single-sided sprays of yellow daisy-like flowers. This plant is cultivated for its foliage effects, but in colder temperate regions it requires the protection of a wall. The specific epithet ''arborescens'' means "woody" or "tree-like". This plant〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://apps.rhs.org.uk/plantselector/plant?plantid=4384 )〕 and the cultivar 'Powis Castle'〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://apps.rhs.org.uk/plantselector/plant?plantid=176 )〕 have gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. This plant, like others of the genus ''Artemisia'', yields essential oils which have historically been used for various medicinal purposes, and its pharmacological properties are under investigation.〔http://www.ann-clinmicrob.com/content/6/1/10〕〔http://www.globinmed.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83010:artemisia-arborescens&catid=815:a&Itemid=202〕 ==Gallery== File:Artemisia arborescens in the first week of june 2000..jpg|Artemisia arborescens in north western Sardinia.
